Healthcare Specialty Consultants administers IV certification courses intended to prepare pharmacy and emergency medical technicians, registered nurses, and other medical professionals for state or national certification. In this training, participants will learn the fundamentals of IV medicine and the proper usage and handling of IV equipment and drugs.

National IV Certification

In compliance with USP 797 and USP 800, Sterile Compounding & Aseptic Technique (SCAT): for pharmacist and pharmacy technicians are now required to get national IV certification for improved outcome in patient care. Healthcare Specialty Consultants offers the most comprehensive initial IV training program available to pharmacists and technicians using strict USP standard, a 40-hour ACPE-accredited program for Pharmacy Technicians and 20-hour for Pharmacists.

We have a maximum capacity. Classes fill quickly, so register soon! If any of the above dates does not fit your schedule, call for an off-week schedule or private 1/1 class. Group rates are also available. More venues coming soon!

ICC Program 1:

  • Cost: $595

Fee includes textbook, manuals, practice materials, and 40/20 hours of ACPE-Accredited Continuing Education

National IV Training:

  • Friday 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • Saturday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Online Test 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM)

Note: If you already have IV skill and need certification, you must pass competency assessment and can take test on day one.

  • Availability of Certificate: Exam score result is immediate, 75% or higher to pass
  • Home Study: 10 Hours (Pharmacists Only)
  • Live Class: 10 Hours
  • Practical and Media Fill Test: 2 Hours
  • Allow 5-10 business days for FSHP to post CE on NABP Website


This course meets the requirements for accredited training defined by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy in TAC 291.133. Prerequisites: Certified (PTCB) pharmacy technician and/or registered pharmacy technician or pharmacy technician trainee; or registered pharmacist or pharmacy intern; or be enrolled in or have completed an ASHP/ACPE-Accredited Pharmacy or Pharmacy Technician program; or have a minimum of six months of pharmacy experience. Preferred: One or more years of sterile compounding experience.

Cancellation Policy

Insufficient class registrations will cause the program to be cancelled and rescheduled to another date of your choice or refunded.

Refund Policy

A 90% refund will be granted for written cancellation when made seven days in advance.


If you have to reschedule your class, the fee will not change if done within a six-month period of your original registration date.
